And what version of "freedom" should the world aspire too?
How can you define "freedom" and aspire that "all nations are free", when it is such a indefinable aspiration, and every nation on earth - that has had this american model of economic freedom (selfishness and self interest) inflicted on it, (Russia, Iraq) and in most cases professors of economics shipped in from America - to implement the "doctorine of lazairre fair capitalism" - descend into civil war and quickly become economic disasters - that are litterally raped for all they're assets and then abandoned - only then to be picked up by folks who quickly drop the whole american idea - and imprision the profiteers of it?
Does "freedom" work, in it's most base form - when what people need - from they're government is stability and not the complete anarchy of the market defining every moment of they're existence?
How can you expect to build a nation (from scratch) from the basis of completely selfish individualism?

Whats your problem babes, it's just a question.
I am not "inciting", just using my "right" to free speech - or have I not got that right, because you want to desperately portray me as someone who disagrees with the concept of freedom, so you can maneouvre your silly arguements into position?

The use of the word "freedom" is often invoked by governments to justify their policies. The American government uses it as a justification, but it would be incorrect to think that America is the only country who has ever done so, or even the first to have pioneered this kind of rhetoric historically speaking.

Well first of all you can never force a country to be free. The people of that country have to decide for themselves that they want to be free. Invading a country to try & make if free NEVER works.
However free market capitalism does make countries free but again you can't force a country to become Capitalistic. They have to want to be capitalist just like China & Vietnam decided to become free market capitalist societies which has brought great new freedoms to the people of those countries however not enough freedoms like people have in the West.
Freedoms however are not perfect. They can sometimes lead to coruption or chaos but the good of freedoms almost always outweighs the bad & law helps keep the chaos under control. If you take law out of free socieites then you have anarchy & that I have a feeling is what you only see. Lawless free chaotic societies like Iraq. But that's only because the US invaded Iraq.
But the alternative to freedom is totalitarianism and that may bring more control & order but then Govt. controls every aspect of your life & that is the worse thing you can do to a human being. It's like being locked up in a cage.

The world should aspire to the freedom from the tyranny of selfishness and apsire to the self interest of other.
Unfortunately, it cannot simply because the heart of man is selfish and seeks its own self-interest first.
Do not piously condemn America for wanting everyone to have the choice and opportunity to make their dreams realized.
Perhaps civil war begins not because of economic system of capitalism but because of the greed and selfishness of those in conflict. Every economic system will have its haves and have nots. Are you a whining have not? Capitalism affords the have not's the opportunity to be the haves with a little bit of effort on the have not's part.
Freedom is more than economic capitalism.
Freedom is the choice to live your life the way you wish to live it without fear of being put to death for it.
Freedom is the opportunity to worship how you want.
Freedom is the opportunity for women to pursue higher education, careers, and not be mere chattle for men.
Freedom is the opportunity to participate in the making of the laws that govern.
Freedom is the opportunity for all races and cultures to live together harmoniously and succeed socially, economically and politically to the degree one is willing to work for it.
Why do you think self-interest in something not to be desired?
Do you not each day look out for your own self-interest? How do you achieve fulfilling your self-interest?
Surely, you must use your economic clout in some fashion to achieve your self-interest or do you just incite with your words behind your computer each day and expect the government to hand you your dreams?

Very few people leave the USA to live in other countries. Very few people leave Europe to live in other countries, unless it's this one.
But people risk their lives to sneak into the US and risk their lives to sneak into Europe - by the boatload, by the truckload, by whatever means.
Western Liberal Democracies must be doing something right.
And if other places had Western Liberal Democracy, maybe they would get it together and their people would stay home and prosper there.
That's why the US wants people everywhere to have the freedom of choice of leaders, the freedom to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the freedom to do business.
Don't confuse the cynical pr of the current US administration with the general sentiments of the populace.
And don't confuse, as so many people do, what this nation was built on with what this nation's economic system is.

Well, I think rediculous part of it is that many americans are actually ignorant enough to prescribe to the idea that the US is the ONLY free country. Most countries already have their liberties, if they didn't they'd revolt.
When our government tells us we are giving a country freedom what they mean is we are setting up a Democratic government.
A democratic government isn't an easy thing to keep stable because public opinion of it can be easily swayed in a country that isn't used to it.
Herein lies the beautiful ugliness of our plan.
When we set up these democratic governments we know this, we WANT them to be a little unstable, we WANT them to keep crawling back to america for help. As long as they need us, then we can rape them for their exports and their natural resources.
and they'll actually thank us for it.
So far i think it really only worked in Israel, but hell, we keep tryin anways!

Free countries, particularly those that are governed by the people, tend to shie away from war and invasion of other countries.
If the entire world had free countries run by their people ( and not by some power-hungry dictator ) there would be world-wide peace and comfort for all.
That is why America involves itself in some of the conflicts that are going on. We want the whole world to be free, we have that desire to protect ourselves..

Once you taste freedom and the protection of the rule of law (from your slave owning mullahs) you will never accept anything but freedom.
Why don't you go out in the streets where you live right now and organize an anti government demonstration.

well put - though I was under the impression that the states was trying to eradicate freedom in the rest of the world so that they could call themselves the only free country, and therefore feel fully justified in running all the other countries! lol

America did it, and is flourishing nicely, except for those people who want to give away what some earn to others who earn nothing. The biggest problem in this country is that those who achieve are punished for it, to the benefit of those who don't.

I guess you don't subscribe to the fact that there are universal freedoms.
Freedom to live
to think
to speak
to work
to spend
to buy
to move
to be involved in your own governance
