I've had some sort of registry crash, and before I move to remedy it, I want to back up all my stull. It adds up to 6.5G.

What I'm wondering is whether I can use a single command/action to back it all up, or do I have to manually split up the files into 700MB chunks (the size of a CD)?

I don't have an external hard drive, so portable media is my only option. CDs are about 17 cents a pop, so I can back up with about $1.70 worth of CDs - in contrast to an 8G data stick that costs in excess of a hundred bucks.

My stuff... back up all my stuff, not my stull. Sorry :-)

Well it depends on the type of data for example True Image can compress your data up to 70% percents, so you'll need only two CDs.

Have you tried using MS Backup? or File & Transfer Wizard? I think it also compresses your files. I personally like Ghost for that kind of stuff because you can back up everything every easily - but then you'd need the software. See if Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools does it for you.

It is better to use DVDs I think. For saving you data on CDs or DVD I recommend you to use Acronis True Image. It will make an image of your data and store it in disks. For more info visit Acronis site: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/

if you are not using a raid array, Norton Ghost will span cd's automatically.

Just don't use anything after version 2003.

If you have Nero, I'm sure it will split it up for you.
If you can burn DVD's, I'd suggest a dual layer disk.
