I like to laugh and have fun, but for some reason when I get up in front of a group of people I'm really dry. I even bore myself.

Anyone else have this problem? I do I overcome it?

Practice makes perfect.....find a friend or family member who is willing to work with you and practice with them.

Write down notes to help you remember what you want to say, but don't read them - just use them as a memory device.

There are a lot of sites and classes that can provide tips on public speaking, quotes and illustrations you can use to liven up your talk, and so on. Toastmasters International is a group dedicated to public speaking; they have chapters all over the place, so you may want to consider joining one.

Remember to be animated - use broad gestures, convey your excitement about your topic. If you're not interested, no one else will be.

The audience wants you to succeed. Relax, take deep breaths, and remember all of that practice. You'll be fine. :)

Public speaking is a very difficult thing, and doing it well is something that most people need to learn. I suggest taking a public speaking course. This way you can gain the benefit of learning the 'tricks of the trade' so you can liven up your presentation, and get live feedback on your progress. You should be able to find one at minimal expense either at a local university (continuing or adult education program) or other learning annex.

best of luck!
