depends on the type of audition, for me its the moment just before i start to sing

before shows try to do some body movements like jogging on the spot, and stretching, a good drama coach or vocal coach would/can give you a routine, what i always do is make sure i exercise on the day to get rid of some excess energy cause by your nerves..(your metabolic rate goes up when your nervous)

remember, its not about being calm and collected, even the most experienced performers get nervous, its about manipulating that energy into something useful on stage

good luck

If it's a musical audition, the dancing for me is the most stressful. If it's a regular-just do your monologue-audition, it's actually getting to the audition space on time. Getting ready to leave the house and get my head clear is the most stressful.

Right before a show, I do a lot of physical improv with my castmates. It's a great warmup and really loosens your body up, I also include about 10 minutes of yoga and a vocal excersize..it might seem like a lot but even if i don't have a large amount of time, i do the same routine just in a smaller time frame.

Waiting to go in for an audition can be stressful, until I remind myself that an audition's an opportunity to do something I really enjoy doing.

Stress before a show is excitement. If the performance didn't matter to you, you'd be bored before a show. The best preparation is to know what you're doing. Learn you lines, your blocking, your actions, your intentions and then just have a good time.

Knowing what the subtext is. To deal with the stress, take acting classes. They are teaching us how to audition and deal with those stressors. Getting into character helps. What is it about? Well make it up.

Shows don't make me nervous at ALL! It's the auditions that suck. The worst part for me is that you hardly ever get to see everyone audition. So you don't know who your up against. And also, you always need to be in perfect condition, so they want you in their show. not even one screw up. But the most killer part is the wait for results!

Everyone is always stressed before a show. The hardest part is getting started once you are up there and grooving it is easy.

For me it's not knowing what the director wants. I always try my best, but I don't know if I'm giving them what they want and it drives me CRAZY
