I will ALWAYS prefer Elizabeth Taylor.
I LOVE Audrey Hepburn, but I am enamored with Elizabeth Taylor's acting ability. I think Liz has more range than Hepburn and can pull off a variety of characters. I've loved every movie Taylor has done: BUtterfield 8, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, National Velvet, Suddenly Last Summer, A Place in the Sun, Little Women and so on. I've even liked the bad ones, such as: Love is Better Than Ever. But nevertheless, she always brings a stirring performance to the screen and wows me with how she can make me feel the character's pain, their agony, their happiness. She can play a harlot, an abuser, a psychopath, a drunk, ANYTHING. She gives a harrowing portrayal to each and every perfomance, which i've never seen Hepbburn do.
Hepburn is a fantastic actress, but Elizabeth is a legend.

Audrey Hepburn anyday. All the parts she has done (Breakfast at Tiffany's -Holly Golightly, My Fair Lady -Eliza Doolittle, Charade -Regina Reggie Lampert, Wait Until Dark - - Susy Hendrix..............................and the list goes on) were as if written for her, it was as if she wasn't even acting and as if she fitted into the characters as if glove in hand, if u understand what I am trying to say if i am explaining it well. I mean, can u imagine anyone else as Holly or Eliza or Susy or any other character she has played. Ask for a replacement for any of these characters and it would be very very difficult for most ppl to cite one (for me, personally, it is impossible). For all other actresses, including Elizabeth Taylor, I mean there could have been other talented actresses replacing them. And Audrey appeared not even to be acting, it was as if she was the part. Plus, it doesn't hurt that she was the most charismatic anyday and, thus, made the character much more enjoyable (which is what the audience need).

To me, the mark of a good actor or actress is whether I forget who they are when they're in character. By that yardstick, Hepburn wins hands down.
When I see Taylor on the screen, I can't get past the fact that it's Elizabeth Taylor playing a part. She "acts" too much, whereas it came naturally to Audrey Hepburn

When it comes down to acting ability, I prefer Elizabeth Taylor. Audrey Hepburn was good, but for her, most parts she did were simply her natural charisma shining through. Elizabeth Taylor challenged herself with more dramatic and difficult roles.
