OK, just browsing through this section and I was wondering, why do most women seem to prefer a female OB/GYN?

Question

I sure as heck don't want a male urologist, having a guy touch me "down there" kind of creeps me out. Not similar?

I usually like to choose a best answer, but I'm just going to let this go to vote. I didn't feel like I really got an explanation on this one. Maybe I phrased the question poorly.

To the girls that said "becasue men are pervs"... I hope you're kidding, but I have a feeling you're not. That's kind of... disheartening, at least.

No, not similar to me. The reason I choose a female is because they are more gentle and you can talk to them easier.

Don't worry about a male urologist. They are usually completely numb to the whole experience. I understand your feeling but trust me, they have seen so many it does not phase them.

I don't like male Ob's because from personal experience they say rude things to you when your pregnant, ( I had one that said that i didn't look like i was missing many meals, Hello i was pregnant.) Then that same doctor put in my IUD six weeks after i had given birth and when he was doing my exam before hand he said i bet this is the most action you've gotten in awhile. OK if that doesn't make any female think twice about men Ob's then i don't know what will. All the men Ob's I've had over the years have been like this. I never feel comfortable enough to ask questions because i just want the exam over with, but with females you don't have to worry about them making rude comments and they usually take more time with their patients so its easier to feel comfortable with women Ob's . Plus at one time or another they have been through the same things and there for know how uncomfortable a yearly exam is, can a man say the same thing?

I don't know all the reasons but the reasons I have are;
-easier for a female to talk to a female OB/GYN
-females feel more comfotable going to a female OB/GYN
-female OB/GYNs can a lot of times offer better comfort and advice to female patients since they go through the same thing themselves.

Well women tend to want a female gynecologist because they feel comfortable with it. Not all women likes a female gynecologist though. Its just the same with men. Mainly, it just depends on who you are comfortable with and which doctor you most trust.

Well most girls feel more comforatable talking to a girl and having a girl look at you, rather than a guy. especailly if someone were to have a "problem" down there or anything.

Maybe it's just because men can't get pregnant? I don't really know, I've always preferred male doctors for everything.

male one's arnt just doctors, they are men, just like most other men, get turnt on by the same things, get the same thoughts, only because they have Dr infront of their name it doesnt mean that it automaticaly makes them diffrent from other guys, and most men are pervs :P lol, no offence guys, so yeah woman just feel more comfortable with a female one

i always wanted a women because i have been able to relate to them better...i know the first time i went to the obgyn it was a guy and i was a virgin...and to have an old guy look at me when i had never been with a guy was kinda awkward.
