here's some poetry a friend of mines wrote on how to live life, it truly inspired me and i read it every now and again just to remind myself how i want and need to live:
"You should always operate with designation.
Your flaws are simply genetic.
Things you know how to occupy and handle, you do.
The journey in becoming a man is drawing near to a close. The journey to become wise... is everlasting. Learning to give a damn. Learning to love. Learning to live. Learning to relax.
Chase a dream.
In this voyage, you'll see a whole lot of landmarks. You know... a whole lot of sacrifice... a whole lot of growth... a whole lot of retrospect. It will lead you to a visionary state... where you will have the ability to make the thoughts of your mind the actions of your hands.
The mirror will remind you of someone you once knew. One who used to walk around like he had an "S" on his chest. One who stood out. One who was spiritual, prudent, humble, and confident. Your best friend.
Every decision you make should never be second guessed.
Delegate friend from foe, real from fake, love from lust, truth from lies, a sincere offer from a trap.
Recognize your identity.
Keep your identity.
Your personal life is not to be broadcasted.
Teach people how to treat you.
Fear no one, respect everyone.
Love always, hate only when you are supposed to.
Always be kind.
Burn no bridges.
Marry the love of your life.
Set your sights on something and allow nothing to get in your way.
Be spontaneous.
Listen more than you speak.
Be brave, not bold.
Know your limits.
Be not intimidated, do not submit to pressure.
Remember the good times.
Know your worth.
Know who's real and who's artificial. Know who loves you for who you are, and who likes you for what you do.
Hold fast what is important to you, what you love... don't let it slip away.
Accept everybody as they are.
Do not choose your battles, let them choose you.
To everything there is an opposite.
To all cause there is negation and adversity.
Envy no one.
Steal from no one.
Become wealthy, give charity.
Are you part of the cure or part of the sickness?
Does God judge one's deeds or intentions?
Your mind is a carnival; it'll play games with you.
Your heart is a treasure map...it'll lead you to gold....so follow it.
It is possible if you allow it to be."
also, from tuesday's with morrie by mitch albom:
"Everybody knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently. We kid ourselves about death. But there's a better approach. To know you're going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time. That's better. That way you can actually be more involved in your life while you're living. When you learn how to die, you learn how to live."

Great Question!! :)

'in proving foresight may be vain, the best laid schemes of mice and men gang aft agley, and leave us not with grief and pain for promis'd joy'
it doesnt so much inspire me as it slaps sense into me
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride"
this does inspire me
and lastly
'love one another as i have loved you'-jesus

I have this on a shirt I wear.
And it is on a sign at my job.
I live by it every day.
WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE?
1. Live long.
2. Outlast your enemies.
3. Die strong.
Once I had 23 people at a meeting, mostly witnesses, trying to fire me from my job. 15 years later, there is only two left.
And I am still at my job!!

When the going gets tough, give up and let someone else do it.
When in doubt, blame someone else.
If it ain't broke, smash it while no is looking, then get them to fix it.
Don't judge a book by its' cover, just doubt everything.
Leave the toilet seat down, just pee right on it.
