Ok so I have this paper due tomorrow for American Politics and I am supposed to explain how government affects my chosen career. Since I am in my first semester of college and have only completed my intro psych class, I have no clue how the government affects it. I know this is what I want to do but since I have no ACTUAL experience I don't feel like I could know the different ways that the government laws, etc. will affect my job. I am already planning on covering the HIPPA policies and the requirments for licensure in the state of Illinois in my paper, since those two things have to do with about every career I thought they would work well in my paper. Please help!!!

Wow, you bit off a lot more than you can chew in one night!
Ok here's some things that should be covered...
1. Medical Insurance and limitations of services that providers will cover. This is a HUGE one!! You can't write this paper without it!
2. Legal age for consent to treatment w/o parental permission(14 yrs. old)
3. Legalities for involuntary commitment
4. "Duty to Warn"
5. Child Abuse Mandated Reporters
6. Confidentiality, release of information agreements (HIPPA includes this).
7. Client Privilege
8. Another biggie...Malpractice!!!
These are all big topics,and it would take forever to explain them all. Do a web search for each one and you'll find a ton of info!

2nd step- talk to your college teacher for an extesnion. give an exuse.
3rd step- ask someone who's good in politics to help.
