Ignore anyone who puts you down. Unless you know they are right, then don't ignore them, and change the bad parts. But, that's not the question. Or the answer.
Just ignore them. They probably won't stop. Or tell them that you aren't "emo/goth" (which are two completely different things...)
BTW, your username, Headfirst For Halos, amazing song!

If you don't want to change who you are then don't. Who gives a sh*t what other people think or say? If you want to dress or act a certain way then fine. But part of that is being able to deal with criticism. And "preppy" people make fun of "emo/goth" people for the same reason "emo/goth" people make fun of "preppy" people. Because everyone thinks that their "image" is right and thinks that if you fit into a certain category it is because you are following a trend. If you are following a trend, fine. But if you're not, fine. Whatever. It's just a freaking style and people are always going to have something to say about it.

Hi, i don't know the difference between an emo and goth but i do know that you shouldn't take to heart what others say about your appearence. People poke fun at people regardless of age or experience. It gets to a whole new level once you leave school. Just be comforatble in your own skin and then that will show on the outside. When you are comfortable with who you are, it wont matter what others have to say.

Well emo and goths are totally different.. so the people who make fun of you are jus messed in the head. U really shouldn't care what people say as long as u are happy with yourself then basically that is what should matter. U dont need extra stress, and if they're makin fun of then obviously u dont want to be their friends in the near future so its not like ur losing out because at least u kno who the scums are. Screw them, be happy with yourself and flaunt your style!

People should stop judging people for what they are. They should judge people on what they do. Unless it hurts, insults, or does any harm, I have absolutely no problem at all.
Some people should mind their own business. They should really care about them selves more instead of being so obsessed about others. It has nothing to do with them. It's their(goths/emos) problem. Not others. Never would be and never will be. Some people's obsession towards others some times creeps me out. Some times I wonder on why they have to keep mentioning it.

Many, many moons ago, I was considered "goth" -- this was a time before the term "emo" existed and "goth" was a fairly new term. (Yes, many moons ago). I survived high school by simply shrugging my shoulders at any mean-spirited comments and honestly answering any questions that were well-intentioned.
People make fun of others because
1) they're afraid
2) they don't understand
3) they're bored with their lives
4) they need love & attention
5) they're just a$$holes
Don't make their problem(s) yours.
Good luck.

Not all preppy people make fun of others (goths or emos). If they knew you as a person they usually base it on that. I am more on th punk side myself and alot of my friends are jocks, cheerleaders, and preppy kids (if you will). To generalize isn't very fair but then again its based on your experiences. But keep in mind your young, and all those people who make fun of you will not matter two or even three years from now.

I don't worship satin either, i worship velvet. (sorry, I had to. It was a moral imperative.)
Anyway I suspect that people would razz you anyway no matter what you did. Just be happy that they've bestowed upon you a title that a lot of baby bats work VERY hard to get.
People always look down on people who are different form them. There may even be an element of envy to it- you're brave enough to do what you want and they might not be.

because emo/goth people look like the world has severly shafted them...... they look so depressed all the time, and it is aggervating because if you (refering to emo/goths) think you have problems?!?! move to the ghetto, or a third world country...... then see how good you REALLY have it in life! we all are a lot better off in life than we give ourselves credit for, and it is so aggervating to see someone be depressed over having a WONDERFUL life! cheer up and enjoy the blessings you have! they might all be gone tomorrow!
