I suspect im pregnant, my period is not due for 2-5 days.

I got VERY DRUNK last Saturday for Saint Paddy's day as i was drinking all day. I also have the occasional drag of my boyfriends ciggarette and have eaten alot of seafood. Could any of these things seriously hurt the baby or pregnancy in any way? i intend to now act as if im pregnant and not drink or smoke.

Don't worry. It is early enough in your pregnancy that the fetus has not yet started to develop, and your baby is not yet absorbing too much from you since its just the embryo developing. That is according to what my doctor told me after I had a major party night one night on new years eve about a week before I discovered I was pregnant and my baby was fine. A one night indiscretion should not harm your baby, but you should stay away from cigs and drink from this point on (1 glass of wine is still fine on special occasions), and seafood is safe in moderation, (couple times a week is ok) just don't eat fish that is high in mercury such as shark or swordfish. Just start to take care of yourself now and start prenatal and go to your doctors for an exam.

I drank ALOT before I found out I was pregnant and I smoked alot more! My baby is fine and healthy. I quit drinking as soon as I found out (I drank daily, pretty much) And it took a while to quit smoking but I did. I had my baby almost a month ago and I haven't started back up yet. Seafood is not that bad for you. You shouldn't eat shark and other high mercury fish. But who eats that alot anyways? I got really drunk a couple times my first few weeks before I found out I was pregnant and once again.....my baby is fine. If I could take it all back I would but what's done is done.

OK MRS. IVORY...I'm not saying that its okay but a friend of mine drank and smoke for 5months and she didn't know she was pregnant and she's almost 8 months now and has a healthy baby boy on the way !!! So if you suspect just stop until your sure one way or the other !!! You don't wanna hurt baby ivory if you are. I on the other hand am 21weeks prenant and I don't smoke or drink but I have the quickest temper and I'm tryin to learn to control it and stay calm so it doesn't put stress on my baby. Anyways GOOD LUCK !!!

Dear Worried,
I would not worry about it too much! As long as it is so early, you should be fine! I got very drunk before I realized that I was pregnant with my daughter and she is 8 years old and healthy and intelligent! If it s just a one time thing very early on, there is really little to worry about. It's the women who drink all the time and smoke all the time that should worry! So put yourself at ease! And good luck to you!

I did the same thing - drank and smoked not realising that i was pregnant. As my Dr said - it happens to a lot of people. All you can do is stop doing these things until you know for sure.

I have a healthy 5 week old boy.

No point in dwelling on the past. If you are pregnant, keep going to your appointments, and be very honest with your OBGYN so they can do all the possible checks they can to track the development of your baby. The big thing is that you stay healthy and positive. Chances are, everything is just fine!

your okay just if you suspect you are you shoudl stop right now... Smoking cigs can cause low birth weight, but done throughout the entire pregnancy so if you just had a few drags dont worry about that.. as far as drinkng goes well that can be very serious too, but if you stop now your baby will be fine!! and as far as seafood goes I have eaten grilled fish, and shrimp throughout my entire pregnancy.. My Dr said that was completly okay!! its tuna fish you want to stay away from because of all the mercury in it!!
