Is any one else happy to see that the NFL is going to make a stand against players who constantly get in trouble?
I for one am sick of players thinking they are above the law because the can run, jump, catch, or throw a football.

It is about time but the acid test will be when they actually have to punish a star player. It all sounds great but I can imagine an owner going crazy when his star player suddenly isnt available....imagine Vick doing another stupid thing and the Falcons have invested so much money in him,now he isnt available? I have a hard time believing there wont be a double standard....the lesser guys being made an example of while they find ways to let the superstars slip through the cracks.
Honestly the best thing that could happen is to get rid of starstruck judges who would throw the book at you and me and then instead of treating an athlete the same way they treat us they instead scold them and ask for an autograph as the offender leaves the courtroom. Notice the tank Johnson list of offenses, you and me get 10-20 years and he gets to travel to the Super Bowl and gets 4 months (and likely serves 35-45 days). Society tolerates fames misgivings and demands justice to the ordinary citizen and until that mindset changes these guys have no reason to change either.
But YES I hope something is done, enough is enough and it is time to return all sports to games of nobility both on and off the playing field!

It would be nice to not have a repeat of the Bengals. However, these guys are human and they do make mistakes just like the rest of us but I will admit it is getting out of hand. Its not the NFL that needs "crack down" on these idiots, its the justice system. How many crimes were committed by NFL players between last off season and this one? Way to many to count. And how many of them have served REAL punishment? None that I know of. Until the DA offices in NFL cities stop catering to spoiled players, the NFL taking action, is the next best think.

I am right there with you, but we have such short memories. I live in Dallas. Go on the street and ask your average fan what Michael Irvin got in trouble for and they will have no idea. I love the Cowboys, not a big fan of Jerry Jones and hate what some players do to the team. The big debate down here is still Deon. I thought we had a stable coach in Bill Parcells and bang he's out of here.

The players rule the team and the union needs to be broken up!!!!

It is good that they are cracking down. Personally I think every Bengal player should get their @ss kicked or somthing like Joey Porter rocking lineman for the Bengals Levi Jones. Raynrock23 what do you mean Joey Porter should not be in this game he is a beast!!! He does what needs to be done and if that means kicking the sh!t out of someone do it!!! If you think hes bad what about Pacman Jones and his strip bar spree or the Bengals having 11 straight months with some idiot getting in trouble with the law. Get your facts straight raynrock23 then you can talk!!!

It is long time coming. But, the real impact will not be seen for a few years, because the bad eggs are already bad. The focus was to stem the tide of kids in High school and college emulating thier Pro-idols by gang banging, drugging, partying and being disrespectful. Don't expect the culture to overturn in one season.

Amen, brother. It is time that athletes lived the true lifestyle of a hard-working man. I am a teacher's son and I find the disparity between teacher's salaries and LeBron James/Kobe Bryant salaries unreal. I thought the message was to stay in school to make the money later?

I think it's awesome. There is absolutely no place in the league for people like Joey Porter, Jerramy Stevens, and Pacman Jones. They should all beat it.

And that pond scum Michael Irvin too.

Jason the NFL wouldnt be as cool if players didnt get in trouble. I think Pac-Man Jones is cool because he gets something on ESPN when football season is over. The NFL wouldnt be as controversal if people like Pac-Man wasnt around. Dont forget the Bengals roster
