Yes! There is a VERY big difference between Rabbits and Hares....

Ok.. Rabbits are born Blind, Deaf, and Naked... They are completely helpless and depend on their mother for everything for 8 weeks.

Hares, are born fully furred, eyes open, and ready to run with in half an hour. They don't stay with their mother as long, and are very independant from the time they can run.

Hope this helped.

Melinda

Hares are generally larger, and have longer hind legs and longer ears than rabbits. When hares are born, they have a full coat of fur and their eyes are open. Their mothers either drop them on the bare ground at birth or into a slight depression in the ground. A young hare is called a leveret.

Rabbits, on the other hand, are more compact. Their young, called bunnies, are born hairless and blind. The mother rabbit lines a nest with grass, bark and soft stems. Over this, she places a layer of hair that she plucks from her own body. When she leaves the nest, she covers the bunnies with more hair and dead plants to keep them warm and hidden from enemies.

Hares are about twice as big, thinner and taller than rabbits. Hares live above ground and escape from predators by running away.Rabbits live underground in burrows.

yep there is.

They are related, belonging to the same order (lagomorphs) and family (leporidae). But a hare is 2x to 3x bigger than rabbits, have longer ears and legs. Hares have not been domesticated, rabbits are raised as pets.

they have a sheen on there coats plus, the back legs are a give away for astart . they are taller &, there ears tend to stick up and they seem to be alone & run faster ... Rabbits are always in company(unless, separated as some do fight and disown it i.e. it is well known that a baby kitten will take care of an elder rabbit abonden his brother /sister and when the elder dies it wont let go) thats why you should get two rabbits same sex they really get lonely ..they are lovely..
