What Is The Earliest Point Where My Doctor Can Tell Me What I"m Having Boy/Girl?

just curious i really want a boy but everyone keeps telling me i'm having a girl cause of the way i'm carring but all womens body are different i'm only 3 months and i'm already getting huge is that normal ?and i'm not getting an outie ? but i'm not a skinny girl either i guess everyone dosnt get outies but i just wanted to know what week or month can the doctor have a complete view of what i'm havng i had a friend that her doctor told her she was having a girl and a month after that told her she was having a boy ? i guess it was really early but just a little bit curious and excited cant wait for my baby to be here i just want to hold it thanks Kala

The doctor can inform you of the gender at about 20 weeks or so bc the fetus's sex organs have formed by the then. An ultrasound isn't 100% so another option would be amneocetisis where they draw fluid from your abdomen. of course every womans body is different so don't feel bad bc I'm 21 weeks and look like I just ate and got full and my navel hasn't popped at all !!! The only for sure way of knowing is with an amniocentesis. Even ultrasounds can be wrong some of the time. But an amnio should only be performed when medically necessary because it could cause miscarriage. To tell by ultrasound, around 16 weeks they should be able to see, although most doctors wait until after 18 weeks, but the baby could be in the wrong position. If you are really huge at 3 month, it could mean twins. But as for old wives tales telling you the gender, none of it is accurate, every one has a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong. So don't go by old wives tales.

It all depends on the babys position. If you go in for an ultrasound to find out the sex of your baby, it is quite possible that baby won't turn his/her bottom in the right direction for the Dr./tech to determine it's sex. During my first pregnancy, we had an ultrasound every 2 weeks for the last 4 months and she was never in the right position to tell. 3 months is about the time when then do the first ultrasound, so you may find out soon! Hi Kala! Congrats on your pregnancy!! Well i thought my Dr would let me know what im having at 17weeks (last week i had an appointment) but to my surprise she told me to come back in two weeks (i'll be 19weeks by then) she said she wants to make sure that the baby is big enough to see his/her sex. Its still a little too early to tell what your babys sex is, just hang in there! Im just as anxious as you are to know what im having! Usually Doctors want to check for the babys sex around your 18-20weeks but ive heard that sometimes they can tell you as early as 16weeks.

I found out at 17 weeks! They say a that the sex can be determined as early as 14 weeks i think it is, but most doctors won't do that scan until atleast 18 weeks. even then most doectors wont do it until 20 weeks. So expect to find out on your 20 week appt...

If you have a CVS test (this is a genetic test) then they can tell you already in the 12th week or so. They can tell you if it's XY or XX chromosomes.

A CVS test is similar to an amnio, but can be done much much earlier.

I found out at 13 weeks, thats very early but it you want to find out now go to this website. Its a DNA test to tell you what you are having. 90% accurate!

I would think the second trimester. Then you can see the penis if it is a boy.
