I would suppose that ... rightfully ... employer's test for drugs and alcohol ... If tested randomly .... what percent of the population would fail a daily test ?

i would say about 65% on any given day.

not many employers test for alcohol. Alcohol is legal in most western countries, and traces stay in the body.

If someone is drunk at work, it's obvious, and you don't need to test for it, they smell of it.

There are drug tests, and they do test what has been in there. There are ways to cheat on them (I'm not sharing those).. about 2 percent of bodybuilders test positive, and if call centre workers didn't cheat the number would be close to twenty percent, but with most jobs you just couldn't keep the job if you were loaded or drunk.
