Being the mad person I am, I have decided to take the AP world history test without actually taking the class. (The class isn't offered at my school.) I have fairly strong writing skills and am currently acing my regular world history class (and applying no real effort, unfortunately). I'm also reading what I'm pretty sure is an AP world history textbook. At a chapter a day, I'll have it finished about a week and a half before the actual exam. My memory is pretty good, so I should retain most of what I read. If there is anything I find particularly interesting or confusing, I do research on the internet or look up in a different book. I've already read over some essay prompts from previous years on the collegeboard.

What else should I do to prepare? Are there books I should buy? Specific regions or time periods I should concentrate on? Are people and dates and events more important than themes or cultures? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ray

Read Princeton Review for AP World History. Just read the reviews on amazon.com and you will agree with me. I took the class but got a 2 but I am retaking the test this year. I know people who used that book alone and got at least a 3.

Princeton Review most definitely. Also, if it helps- I've heard that the tests really never go into material after 1991, so it might save you some work there.
