Vol 1 definitely.

I liked 2 much better.

Yeah, there's much more action in 1, but I've seen enough martial arts movies where a throng politely waits for their comrades to be finished off by our hero before stepping in. So if you want a tribute to Enter the Dragon and its successors, enjoy 1.

I like 2 better because it is more of a thriller. The orchestrated tension of this one revenge killing and the inescapable showdown is enough to carry the movie. And what satisfaction that we finally get to fill in all the plot holes when we were deliberately left hanging at the end of 1.

Moreover, the music is a tribute to the great stuff of 1960s spaghetti westerns, e.g., the work of Ennio Morricone in Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, 1966). It raises the 1960s movies and KB2 to the level of opera.

What's impressive here is the lasting popularity of Vol 1 and 2: enough for an impressively large number of responses to your question.

I prefer Kill Bill vol. 1.

I prefer Vol 1 but it was originally meant to be a single film. You can kinda see he released it as 2 tho (not just for the money!) - the fight at the end of the first leaves you exhausted!!

I liked both but I'd say vol II because it was a continuation and not just a sequel like so many others. It actually added to my admiration of vol I. Excellent series.

There's more action in Vol 1 so I guess I like the first one better. :)
