to love his family above all else and to do what it takes to take care of them, physically, emotionally ,financially.
It is great when your husband comes home and your kids run to greet him.
Nobody is perfect but if your wife knows that you would never lie or cheat, and she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that you love her and your children more than anything and that you spend each day trying to show that love then you will be a perfect husband. It is really sweet that you ask

hahaha, ideal and husband in the same sentence. Just kidding! A good father, listener, hard worker, caring and loving. Someone who realizes that without love as our foundation...everything will fall apart. Someone who knows that when I want to run him over with the vacuum that I'll be over it in a few days. Someone who doesn't reply with "yes dear" when I know there is no intention of actually doing it. Someone who compliments me on my driving skills. Someone who puts their dishes in the dishwasher, does laundry, washes the floors. Someone who cuts the grass after bringing me an ice cold drink and giving me a foot rub. Someone who wants to please and thinks of himself last.
Gosh when we have "ideals" we are really setting ourselves up for let downs aren't we??? ;)

A good provider. Someone who appreciates what you do for him and what joy the kids bring to him. Someone who is willing to fight for his family to no end and someone who is also strong enough to stand up for what he believes. A man who is strong enough to tell you you are wrong and why he thinks so but also caring enough to comprimise or help you see why things need to be done a certain way. A husband needs to treat his wife like a queen but also needs to demand that she treats him as her king.

People have already mentioned a lot of desirable characteristics, so I won't add more.

Watch how he treats others...Both men and women. How does he treat his mother? And his sisters?

That will give you clues on how he will treat his wife!

Someone who loves his children and would do anything to keep them safe and taken care of. Someone that would be funny, out going and would remind me how much he loves me. And also bringing up our kids the way we were brought up and the standards that we lived under.
