I have lots of them, but for the top 2: #1 Tulips because they are planted the year before and are perhaps the most rewarding in terms of color and syle. #2 Marigolds are so so easy to plant from seed in the late winter, they last the entire season, they make for very colorful border plants and are practical in keeping bugs away from my cilantro and other herbs!

I know that perennials are all the rage right now and I too have my perennials beds, but bulbs and annuals are still my favorites.

For spring through Fall...petunias, begonias, marigolds, hibiscus, hydrangea, geraniums. For winter...only pansies survive the frost here so all my beds are full of pansies from November to April. Pansies die in the heat here however. They can't survive long over 85 degrees.
