No flip flops? Hmm...Skechers came out with a super comfortable, but fashionable shoe this year. It does not look like a gym shoe at all (it has almost an eyelet design with straps). It would go with anything, shorts, skirt, capris. So, your feet will breathe, they're light shoes, and you'll be comfortable and fashionable. They're called Luxe Mary Janes (the Sightseer line is cool too.)

Berkenstocks.
They are now making cute multicolored ones.
They are ten times more comfy that flip flops but they still are open toed and summer-ey.
