Check with your local Department (Ministry) of Labour, they'll be best able to answer your question, as laws are different from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but generally, most people can work starting at age 16, but some areas allow for people to work under 16 with a work permit.
There are child labour laws, but some businesspeople may be willing to have a 15 year old working for them, but wouldn't put them on the payroll and instead would pay them under the table.

That's old enough for most anywhere in the US.

At 15 I was a supermarket bagger (I put groceries in bags) and I worked at a summer camp, looking after younger kids and cleaning up the kitchen. (that was through YWCA, for some reason boys can work there). I could also mow lawns, I had friends who house sat, looked after people's dogs, walked dogs, did internships or placements at their parent's company... I even did a door to door sales thing at like 12.

(this was in the USA, where it's perfectly legal. I couldn't do some construction, but everything else I wanted to do there wasn't a problem).

Back in my day, you could do it at 15 1/2 with a parent's permission. Of course, the only job I could get was cleaning caves, babysitting the dinosaur's eggs, that kind of thing:-)

Seriously, it probably varies by state.

p.s. Kudos to her! Most kids today want to plant in front of an electrical object of some type for the summer.

As per law, anyone under eighteen years of age is considered a minor. Many businesses hesitate to employ minors because of the legal restrictions on working hours and documentation required. A better option for your daughter is to work from home on the computer. She could write articles, sell on eBay,make a website, take surveys. You need to be at least 18 years old to work in most States. However, if its just for summer vacation, try fast food chains. There can be exceptions.

It varies state to state or country to country. But 15 with parents consent sounds about right to me.
