Answers in reverse order...

4) Equinox - the time of the year when the sun crosses the equator resulting in days and nights of equal length. Happens twice a year, Vernal Equinox (VE) is around March 21st and Autumnal Equinox (AE) is around September 22nd.

3) Solstice - the time of year when the sun is furthest from the equator. Winter Solstice (WS) is around December 21st when the sun is at it's most northerly in relation to the position of Earth, Summer Solstice (SS) around June 21st when the sun is futhest south.

2) Seasons are caused by the rotation of the earth around the sun, because the earth is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees there are times when it faces towards the sun and times when it faces away from the sun. Hence warmer in summer, colder in winter.

1) Spring - between VE and SS. Summer - between SS and AE, Autumn / Fall - between AE and WS, Winter - between WS and VE.

For quesiton number 1, and I can't find the source, but seasons according to the National Weather Service are

Winter = Dec, Jan, Feb
Spring = Mar, Apr, May
Summer = Jun, Jul, Aug
Fall = Sep, Oct, Nov

I'll try to answer 3 and 4 later.

This might not be a lot of help but if you have a dictionary look up those defintions. And the seasons are change by the Earth revolving around the sun at a 23.5 degree angle.
I think that is how it works I am in the 6th grade and we just learned a little about that. Hope it helps. You could go to google and type in online dictionary and see if anything comes up
