I'm not going to the store now but I need some clothing washed. Is there something else that would work in place of fabric softener?

I thought hair conditioner might work too.

You really shouldn't use fabric softeners. They cause towels to not be as absorbent as they could be. It builds up on your clothing and can actually stress the fabric.

If towels put a half cup hair conditioner in the rinse cycle if just regular clothes put half that amount on a clean wash cloth and throw in dryer works!!

Well if your still washing the stuff you can use about a 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle.. no it wont smell. Once it's in the dryer the heat dissapates the smell.

I've heard that baking soda works as well if not better than softener. I believe it's 1/2c. for a med. size load. Adjust for load size.
