engine treatments are not made for a 3 year old car they are made for cars with high milage and on in years. you can keep your cars running smoothly by knowing about oils and keeping them changed.
ex: 20w-50
20 is the weight of the oil in winter.
50 is the stregnth of the oil.
the bigger the first number the longer it takes to circulate in the engine being a heavy oil. so you want that number to be a low one.
the second number(50) you want as high as posible for this is the stregnth of the oil.
i run 0w-40 mobil synthetic and you can run synthetics for as high as 10,000 miles you just have to change the filter every 5000.
castrol has a good synthetic also 5w-50
if you want to keep your car running great use a synthetic and keep changing the oil and you wont need an additive for a very long time

By engine treatment I presume that you mean an oil additive.

the main reasons why you shouldnt use an additive is cost, benefits and the risk of engine damage.

Cost, all additives cost money. Oil manufacturers go to a lot of trouble in making the best oil possible that meets manufacturers high standards. if there was a suitable additive that they could use dont uou think that they would have done so.

Most additives contain either PTFE, a non stick type cating or a straight 50W oil, mineral or synthetic. PTFE works by coating a surface as it goes around your engine. if it coats some of the oilways or filter pores then there is a high risk of the oil being blocked.

There is a trick that some oil additive manufacturers use by adding an additive to an oil in an engine, then draining the oil, starting the engine and seeing how long it will run. Most engines will run for quite a time, but suffer damage as they run, with or without an additive.

You are better off saving your money on an additive and spending it on a synthetic oil with a good filter or reducing the intervals between oil changes.

the reason that there is very little reboring and crank grinding work available available today is that oils are far superior to those marketed in the 60s even oil companies admit that todays oils merely push the additives round the engine thet prevent wear. oil suspends small particles to prevent contact with moving parts thus preventing wear it can only hold so much. change your oil regularly

unless you hammer your engine to pieces then a 3 year old car should not need it,regular service as you have had done sorts the problems out,its mainly for very high mileage cars and cars that have been abused like hire cars.

3 yrs old?you still should have a warranty on it.if you go messing around it,you could void the warranty.besides oil treatment is for older cars, and most of the oils today have additives already in them.

I have used slick 50 and prolong and they both seem to work good especially the prolong as I noticed better gas mileage and after I put it in, the engine actually gained 100rpm on idle.

A lot of people try to skip oil changes and make up for it with additives. NOT a good idea. Make sure you still change oil at the required intervals.

molyslip is good... but quality engineering is better... i use molyslip on my 1972 rangerover... its V8 got a little quieter...

im my 20 year old volvo diesel..i just use oil...and my idea of a regular oil change is every other year... i use HGV heavy duty oil... 100,000 miles between changes... in 2years i did less than 10,000 miles... technically i could get away with a change every 20 years... but it does burn oil... maybe 2litres a year.... but my brother owns a HGV garage..the oils free and i dont care...
