Try Nature's Miracle. It's a liquid you can get at most pet stores. It does a good job neutralizing most difficult odors and does not leave a scent of it's own.

Boil baking soda and peroxide in a pan. then poor it over the area. Soak up the water with a towel. No colore should be removed from the rug and the smell should be gone.

Get a carpet cleaner for pet stains.It will have a odor neutralizer.Be sure to blot up as much milk as you can before using the cleaner
