In top-to-bottom order:

The best four are: 1. TEXAS, 2. Alabama, 3. Mississippi, 4.
Georgia

Then, still good: 5. Tennessee, 6. Louisiana, 7. South Carolina, 8. Arkansas, 9. Oklahoma, 10. North Carolina

The states that could use some MAJOR work: 11. Kentucky (especially Louisville,) 12. Virginia, 13. Florida. (These three have really no reason to be considered in "the South," anymore.)

You got it. I'd put NC ahead of Oklahoma. I wouldn't even consider 11 and 13 part of the South.

It appears that you have answered your own question.

There are people still in Florida that know Southern hospitality, because they are Florida natives.

It is all individual.

If you aren't into black-eyed peas with hog jawls, then stay in the north. If you don't like your collards with pepper sauce sopped up with fried corn bread, don't come a-knocking.

If you don't say Yes Ma'am and Yes Sir, stay home until you learn to talk mannerly. Take off your hat young man when you enter a building.

And say grace before you eat.

I am biased but I feel Alabama is the best. And Florida is in no way part of the South anymore.

I don't consider Texas part of the South but more the Southwest, but I would have to say Texas.

I heard this on the radio down south.
Princess Fergie lived in the southern states for a brief time. She said, she didn't like the south, she didn't like southern cooking, especially she didn't like okra, she didn't like grits; but if it would make southerners feel better, she would return home and date one of her cousins.
