Whether you have good credit scores or poor ones, there are creditors who will target you. Most credit companies are able to sign up for a list that the three major credit reporting agencies sell. You have the option that your name DOES NOT appear on this list. When you obtain a credit report from these agencies, you will notice two types of inquiries. One is those that appear when you apply for any type of credit and the creditor's id is listed, the other type is "invisible" and does not affect your credit scores and is used for marketing. You can request that your information is not allowed to be used for any purpose.

The three agencies are:

Trans Union
Equifax
Experian

Do a search on the net and there are links where you can opt out.

no matter if you positioned the money back on to the cardboard, your BF's mom will in all probability nonetheless pursue the study. Suicide is a ridiculous concept to guage over $500. if you're going to acceptable your self, that is easily no longer properly worth doing it for the style of small volume. the finest ingredient to do, for this volume of money, could be to easily admit it. arise with a superior rationalization why you stole out of your mom-in-regulation, and easily admit it. in case you won't be able to face doing it face-to-face, do it with slightly extra drama - leave a written confession and babbling apology the position your mom-in-regulation will discover it, then disappear to a chum's residing house for some days. Your mom-in-regulation will call you and allow you to understand each thing is all ok. And all will be properly. in all likelihood.

You can't. They get your name off lists that they buy from places where you have credit cards, where you put name & address in an online sweepstakes, auto dealerships, State Bureaus etc.
All you can do is tear them in half and throw them away. If you don't tear them up first, someone can fill them out and just have them send it to a different address and voila!, they have a credit card in YOUR name!!

I hate that too. All the paper they waste sending them out regularly. Some places send them out monthly. There isnt really anyway to stop it. What I did for awhile was just take the self addressed envelope seal it, and mail it back empty. Then they have to pay the postage for nothing.

On each application, there is a place where you can reply and be taken off their mailing list. Check out the next one you get. Good luck!

If they have a prepaid Business Reply mailer, simply put a note inside that says "please take me off your list", and tape the mailer to a brick before you send it back.

Oh, this may not work for you, but what I found very effective is sending them an invoice for $100 for "reading unsolicited advertisement" on my firm letterhead. I don't get many repeats after sending that.

I think it is impossible to stop. They just keep coming, and coming, and coming......
I just shred them all as they come in cuz Lord knows I have enough credit cards, and enough debt to go with it!
