Oh, I feel you on this one, I am in love with casinos, card games, and sports betting. However, I do it as a recreation. Just like someone spending money to go on a trip or vacation, I put aside money so I can go do that. And, I have fun doing it. Really, it just takes a little self motivation and will power. Moderation is that best policy. However, if you just can not stand to not go and blow your money just give it to someone else. I promise if you give it to someone else that you trust and who loves you, they will take care of you. There are also many different groups out there that can help you. Seriously though please take care of what you have. My grandparents live right by Atlantic City, and they have gambled away their retirement, pentions, and taken out a second mortgage on their house because of gambling. It is their own fault, but it sure is sad to see a 78 and 82 year still working just to eat. Good Luck.

This is a tough one, but it's also easy.
Unlike addictive substances that enslave the body, this gambling thing is all in your mind.
All addictions activate a "pleasure center" in our brains. We associate the behavior with the pleasure long enough to make it stick.
That's when the problem starts. There's a physiological reason for this:
Check the source below for the complete Law of Facilitation, which states (briefly) that the more an impulse follows a particular nerve path, the more likely it will be to follow that path in the future. In other words, you're hooked.
The way out is to change that association, to change that path, and to do it long enough and consistently enough that you carve a new path to pleasure.
Gambling is chance and risk, and you find those things to be fun. How about putting your money into things that also involve chance and risk, but are less likely to take all your money like gambling does.
Here's how I gambled slots: I put a little money in. If it grew, even by a little bit, I cashed it out. If it lost I left. I didn't always win, but I won more than I lost that way. Pretty much, I wasn't really gambling, just playing. So I survived. I don't play now.
You can only be so lucky, and everybody can't be lucky at once, so why expect it? Doesn't it almost always let you down in the end?
Here's how my friends gamble: They put the money in, and if it wins they keep playing the winnings until there's nothing left. If it loses they keep putting the money in until there's nothing left. The result is always the same because they always think they're going to get it all back. If that was so, the house would not be able to pay the bills...and they do take very good care of some of those places, don't they?
Find a non-destructive thrill to replace gambling and ride it into the sunset, until you forget gambling.
I used to eat ice cream every day. I couldn't live without it because I kept eating it over and over again.
I don't eat it anymore.
Chocolate, now that's not so bad...
Any habit can be formed, and any habit can be broken the same way.
Carpe diem - Seize the day.

Cold turkey. Don't go near any gambling places again. =D

OR, associate gambling with something that you dislike.
- I suggest using a food aversion(those are quite powerful). Everytime you gamble, eat something that you find very disgusting and nausiating. If you do it enough, you will be sick of gambling. It is classic classical conditionaing! <3

you gotta talk to the casino manager and let them know your problem. You can ask to be banned from the casino, however there is alot that follows from this. It helps alot first thing, i actually am banned from a casino for being addicted. But the bad side to this is this. If you do go to the casino you are banned from and you come up BIG money, they sec you go to cash out they will with hold your money cause your not suppose to be there. So they money you put forward you dont get back. This is only if they dont reconize you when you first come in the door. I strongly suggject you do talk to the manager at the casino. They will explain everything.

you will never win face it, your addiction will not stop until you realize that by gambling you are only loosing money. even then people who win are miserable because their families are torn apart by greed and want for the money which you now have and you must want it from the very pit of your soul to stop you cant stop because someone told you you must realize that it is the best for you in the course of your life and you cannot continue living the way you are SO STOP! -hope it helps

if you can't go cold turkey, it's time to find a 12-step program. i've also heard advertisements on the radio of a number you can call if you live in the US (1-800-gambler), but i'm not sure how they help you.
