Breast is by far the best, especially if you have an undulating stroke, because that will work your core as well. After this it is a toss up between free and back, because they essentially have the same kick. The worst of them would be fly, because most of the power in that is generated from the hips, and not the legs.

Your greater advantageous off doing each and all of the strokes. in the adventure that your objective is to burn fat do the least complicated stroke for you (which im assuming is freestyle) and swim at a extreme intensity with low relax time. i do no longer recognize your swimming ability yet possibly start up off swimming them with 15-20 seconds relax for each 50 yards. This should not be basic so no remember if that's swim quicker or have much less relax.

To exercise your legs properly, try breast-stroke and front crawl (whatever other people call it, I don't know- the 'normal' forward stroke). With these two strokes you use your legs in different ways and target different muscles. Take it easy though- exercise in water can take more out of you than you think and you don't want to strain your muscles and not be able to swim for a few days.

You can work out with a float, just hold the float with both arms, that way the legs have to do all the work to push you forwards. Normally when I use a float, I kick out as with the crawl, but if you want to tone the legs you might want to use the breast stroke kick as well for an even tone.
Happy swimming!

Well, it dpeends on the part of the leg.. for an overall workout, the best thing to do is to tread water in one spot for about a minute, try keeping your shoulders out of the water. Also hold weights.
For your thigh area, I would say Breast stroke, although butterfly will help as well. Butterfly will also help with your abs a bit.

In my own case I know that the backstroke kick uses a lot of energy on the legs. I don't know why it's more tiring than freestyle kicking but that's just how it goes for me.
Backstroke is good for your calves while butterfly is good for your quads and upper legs. Freestyle is kind of an all-around toner for your legs and breaststroke is more for your calves again but it really focuses on your arms more than your legs since the pulling is what gets you through the water in breaststroke.

Try to do them all. If you swim on your back, it's good for the whole body, and very good for your boobs. If you do the crawl (sorry if it's not the good word, I'm not English), it tones the whole body again, and makes your bum higher, buyt I just heard it's not that great for your breast as it can hurt some of your muscles. Breastroke makes your bum rounder, but I heard it's not good for your vagina (honestly, not sure it's true).
Honestly, they are all good for your legs, so just use a combination of them. One thing that's really good for the leg, though, is swimming with flippers. Also very good for your bum! Whatever you choose, your legs will be toned, but not big.

I would definitely say freestyle. Swimming breaststroke, since it is mostly legs, would bulk up your legs compared to swimming freestyle. I would suggest swimming for long distances/periods of time to create long, lean muscle in your legs. If you are looking for bigger looking tone in your legs, then swim more breaststroke and when doing freestyle swim a lot of sprints.

I think they are all the same actually, but some are more tiring than others.
Breast stroke is the easiest, then front stroke, then butterfly.
Try them whilst holding a float in your hands.

breaststroke works thighs (top) and calves
butterfly works thighs (all)
free/back kick entire leg...but it doesn't work the calves or the thighs as much as the other strokes... its kinda the whole leg so if you want to just tone your thighs... i would do either breaststroke or butterfly
