Macbeth is loosely based on a historical story involving the murder of a Scottish King. Macbeth is a nobleman who was told by witches that he would one day be king of Scotland. Urged by his wife, he murders the King and takes the throne, killing many people in the process. Believing himself to be invincible since the witches foretold that "none of woman born may harm Macbeth" he loses to a man who was born through the Cesarean method. Order is restored to Scotland.

EDIT: CYP450, you're thinking of Hamlet. Macbeth is the one with the witches and the crazy power-hungry wife. And the curse.
