what is the question?

schizophrenia is probably the most serious and severe of all mental illness.

your brother needs help -- i hope he finds some.

it's taxing when one person is left alone to take care of a relative who is ill; however, mental illness is something i have found MY own family to shun (i have PTSD and bipolar disorder). My illness is no where NEAR as difficult for me as your brother's is.

i hope there is some help for him. i wish had the answer

you're in my thoughts and prayers.

If he is stilling living with your Mother you need to get him somewhere else to live. Your Mother doesn't need this at her age. She loves her son so she would never complain about it much, but before something happens bad please find somewhere for him. Yes, he does know right from wrong but it would appear his judgement isn't all there right now. Next time it might not be the dog but his Mother. Enlist your brothers and sisters and let them see how terrible this is for her. Gosh I do hate to hear this because he is still young, but for your peace of mind and your Mother's talk with the doctor about what should be done.

Ok. That was freaky. Want to hear something scarrier? The incidence of non-criminal sociopathy/narcisism is about 5 times the rate of schizophrenia, and these folks come off as real charmers until you start to notice their actions don't match their words.
