I read a lot. About a month ago I read an article that said in Japan they have or are working on a steering wheel that will "Read" the sweat in your finger tips and if it detects alcohol it will not start or will stop running. I can't tell where I read it but I do remember it was a reliable source. I think that would be the best invention of this decade !

Unfortunately, there is a way to fool any system devised. Many automobiles are equipped with a device that you are mentioning and many of the drunk drivers have other people breathe into the breathilizers and the car will start regardless of how drunk that person may be.

that's really a question of how much personal freedom you are willing to give up to be safer on the road. part of me says yes, it would make driving safer for everyone on the road but the other part of me thinks would I want to go through all of that mess every time I get in my car, because I know I'm not drunk and it would really waste my time. it's hard to say..

No then i would never be able to drive my car..but it probably is a good idea...at least for people who have been convicted of drunk driving charges in the past.

Yes. I got busted for OMVI 14 years ago. Thank goodness I didn't endanger anyone else. I don't drive anymore when I'm having more than one or two cocktails. Rich people could take limos home.

They have those on cars after a person gets arrested...they must breathe into this device or the car won't start~~~

If there is a hint of alcohol it won't start....unfortunately for one fellow....it wouldn't start everytime he ate McDonald's onions.....tsk tsk

They have something that can be put on a car for that. People that are stopped for drunk driving sometimes have to have it installed in their cars.

I think convicted drunk drivers should be mandated to have these installed in their vehicles.I don't think they should be mandatory for everyone (think expense).

That would be fine but not due to the breath of one beer or one drink.
