thinking of getting a 2004 Mercury Mountineer. How's this one anyone know of any problems with this yr & model

has all wheel drive and it's a V8 loaded with 33000 miles

They are reliable. The Explorer it's based on have been very good , Explorer's are the best selling large suv, people keep trading in older ones for the new ones. If they weren't dependable people would not keep buying them. Check the CV boots for cracks, but other than that you should be ok.

It,s the same as tyhe explorer no major problems with them

It's a ford - what else do you need to know??? Poor handling, awful reliability, below sea level resale value...
