Oil pan removal/installation has nothing to do and should not affect operation of the oil pump. First of all, most vehicles don't even have oil pumps in the lower end, and all decent ones have pumps incorporated in the timing cover. Well-built engines provide pump life exceeding that of the rest of the vehicle. If what you are talking about is of a different kind, replace everything once you get access to it.

Why are you changing the oil pan gasket? Are there oil leaks? the place is the oil coming from? it would desire to easily as genuinely be leaking out of a poorly put in oil clear out above and interior of sight. no one desires a clean pan till they punched a hollow in it. very few automobiles ever % an oil pan gasket. right it extremely is a affordable answer that gets you a speedy answer. flow to a mechanic (no longer a speedy-exchange) and have your oil and clear out replaced for extra or less $30.00. it extremely is barely $15. better than doing it your self..you additionally can spend that element on the raise asking the mechanic as many questions as you may extra healthful into quarter-hour. Ask the mechanic if he thinks you % a clean pan gasket or if the oil is coming from someplace else. Messing with removing of an oil pan under a vehicle on the floor isn't be exciting.

For what ever reason you are replacing the pan, unless severe damage was done, you don't NEED to replace the oil pump, But as I have rebuilt many engines, I have taken the precaution to replace the pump when i have the pan down, for the minimal cost it is great insurance..

depending on the year, it wouldnt hurt to check prices out. In mitsubishis, the oil pumps like to seize and then your engine is gone. Just simply changing the oil pan wont affect the pump.

most mechanics especially shade tree mechanics like to change this part at the time that they have the oil pan off. this is because that way you only have to change the oil pan gasket one time. and it is not really that expensive and is the only other part in there....just lessens the possiblity of taking it off again....not a must but a why not...

in the real world the oil pump is never bad.what it's get bad is the oil pressure release valve and/or the gear in the shaft of the distributor.
check the ball and the spring on the pressure release valve of the pump.
