I don't mean that you may LIVE better. I mean that you actually believe you are BETTER than other people who do NOT live in the United States.

ah before you go any further, I asked about people in the United States!! You may think it is a trickquestion, but America also includes Canada and Central and South America. So those of you who are speaking for yourselves are from the United States. I am not speaking of The other continent (South America) (or Central America) or Canada. Again, I am speaking of the United States.

and btw - people in the United States are NOT more educated than in other countries. In fact, most of our professionals - doctors, lawyers, scientists, technical people, etc. are from other countries, many from halfway across the world as a matter of fact..

Nearly one/half of the adults in the United States are illiterate. Unfortunately, students in K-12 are running a close second.

The people of the USA, myself included, are NO better than anyone else.

The USA has made plenty of mistakes:genocide of the Indians, Mexican War, overthrow of Hawaiian monarchy, etc.

I'm afraid that I agree with the Copper the Canadian.

The answers are definitely a bit disconcerting - and I am American. Those who say "No," say it as if they mean "Yes".

I do believe that many Americans unconsciously do think they are better than those who do NOT live in the US. They think their way of life & their country is the best in the world.

This is why when immigrants (either legal or illegal) come to the US, they are expected to adopt the American way. It is also why Americans do not really bother to learn or care about other countries or the rest of the world. This is why when they entered Iraq, they did it without very much prior planning, preparation, and cultural background research. They just went in insensitively with guns ablazing, and believed it would be just a quick & easy walk in the park (or desert). And most of us Americans supported it, despite the global consensus against it.

They also don't care about world opinion or what other non-Americans think. This is why the 100 million pro-war supporters don't give a damn that the other 5 billion people on the planet are against the war. Being so American-centric, they have no global mentality. They are so absorbed in American national security & freedom, that anybody else's security & freedom is just a non-consideration, and can be sacrificed.

I don't see that at all. I think it is tremendous hubris on others to have that point of view. Unless you have Americans come up to you and specifically say so, then I wouldn't make such a claim. As a country, we are still young and can learn from others. At the same time, the opposite is also true. America has become a success story that I think other developing nations can learn from. (China is a prime example of basically following our example and they are on their way to becoming a major superpower in the world.) I think people that beat up on America and Americans by flexing their internet muscles through the comfortable anonymity of the internet should instead look to themselves and ask how they can better themselves and/or their loved ones.

Well I live in the U.S and I don't believe I'm better than anyone else. That's a pretty foolish assumption, deciding that you're better than someone who doesn't live in the country you live in just because..I don't know..just because they don't.

By the way, America isn't the greatest country in the world. Just because you have a good life does not mean that everyone else is too.

Yes they do. I honestly believe that a majority of them think they are gods chosen people. Of course there are a few free thinkers still in existence there. They have to get together though. It's not to late to save the USA & the reputation of her people on the international stage.

How many people on the planet DON'T think they are better than the people from other countries?

Does Jacques Chirac think anyone is his equal? Calderon? Whatsisname from Iran? Anyone?

It's hard to answer for 300 million people. I'm sure there must be a diversity of opinion!

Yes

We are more educated ( as a national avergae ), we are the United Nations, and the world economy is based on our dollar.

Yep, we rule the world. Thats why we have an illegal immigration problem. People aren't dying to get here because the USA is bad place.

No, we don't, no matter what your inferiority complex tells you. Nice try at bashing the U.S, champ, but it was a ****-poor attempt so I didn't expect much. Have a nice day anyhow :)
