I think that that's what the parking brake is for. If you want to be doubly safe, you could engage the emergency brake as well.

Always set the parking (foot, hand pull lever) brake on any inclines or level area before shifting into park. In the long run this relieves a strain on the transmission parking pawl and allows for longer transmission life.

Always put the parking brake before shifting to park. Think first on last off. this will prevent damage.

when you park on a steep hill,turn your wheels towards the curb and apply the emergency brake,before you put it in park.it will take the strain off of the tranny.

Nope. the automatic transmission hold on, due to a wheel with indentation ,and a metal pin fitt into that indentation.

in the rear, inside the tranny.

Just pump up your brakes BEFORE you take it out of Park .That way it doesn't Clunk into gear .
