Alright. I just got to the point where I can choose a Level 1 job (class) for my characters. They are Warrior, Theif, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Monk or I can stick with Freelancer. I got 4 guys. Should I just keep them all Freelancers or should I change them. To what? I just want to kick some butt!

Thief, Warrior, Black Mage, Red Mage. Freelancers have horrible stats and you won't need them now that you have jobs to choose from. Here's why you should choose these particular jobs:

Thief's can open locked doors and are really fast, plus they can steal. Black mages can do tons of damage and can cast black magic. (low defense though, so keep them in the back row!) You need a healer at all times, period. The warrior can use all kinds of weapons and armor, plus can cast level 1 white magic. Once you get your last set of jobs you have more leeway to be a little more strategic. Until then, keep it simple.

Oh yea, red mages are cool cause they can cast both types of magic, but they are slow, have bad stats, and very minimal MP. Whats the point of being able to cast both types of magic if you have no mp?

It is a good idea to mix it up. Be sure you have a white mage to heal you, a couple of warriors to deal with the heavy hitters, some black mages to kill physical damage resistant enemies (plus you can take out groups more easily later with them), and so on. You can kick butt with these guys and not get your butt kicked at the same time.

lol, one of the final fantasies I havent played yet. I recommend you go to game faqs to see what monsters you will be facing. Based on my experiences with other games in the series some magic/skills work better on certain monsters than others:
