Things seem to be going down onto it and I can't get rid of them. It is double the depth now. Can anyone tell me why this is and how I can get rid of the stuff, please. Also, how to stop it happening again. Thanks

The sort of things that are appearing on it are icons from the desktop. One folder is there and when u access a file from it , that too, stays on the start toolbar. When I try to delete them it either deletes, and is quickly replaced by another icon from my desktop, or it only gives me the option to delete the whole file and not just the shortcut.
Is there anyone who can give me a step by step way to get my toolbar back to normal, please?
I ran a scan last night and no infected objects were found on the system.

What things? If they are program shortcuts and you have them in the Start - programs menu, right click on the ones on the toolbar to delete. Left click on the top edge of the bar and drag it down to its proper size, then right click on an empty area of the toolbar and click 'lock the toolbar'.
I'd run a virus scan as well. Theres a list of software on my 360 blog, click on my pic then follow the link from the profile page.
Finally, run Cclwaner, use the Issues tool then the Cleaner.
