Sounds like an older range with a mechanical clock. If so you are most likely hearing the clock motor getting noisy. It wont effect the operation, however it will stop making the noise when the clock totally fails.

It could be Short Circuiting ,like a Wire Stripped exposing Bare Metal and scratching of the other Pole causing it to Spark intermittently.The Earth Wire could have come loose .
You cant take chances with Electricity ,It might go Alight when you are Asleep get it checked out.
