I support the concept of a Free, Independent, and Sovereign State without regard for size.

It wasn’t (isn’t) a matter of pitting large against small States. It is a matter of representing individual States at the National level. That is, each State already had their own written Constitution and, in Article One of the 1783 Treaty of Peace, each was named and declared Free, Independent and Sovereign. The question is, does a new Constitution base itself on democratically represented people (basing representatives on population) or on these Free, Independent, and Sovereign States. The three branches of Government was the result with no democratic control at the National level.

True, the members of the House of Representatives were and are) elected by a direct voted of the people, but not the people as a total. Rather Districts of people elect a single representative for themselves.

The Senators were elected by the State Legislatures making them looking out for a State’s interest. We have ruined that by going to a State wide popular vote.

The president was elected by Delegates to the Electoral College who were primarily elected by State Legislatures making the President a Representative of the States. This too we have ruined by allowing for popular election of the Delegates.

Members of the Judiciary were (are) selected and proposed by the Executive branch and ratified by the Senate.

This original design of government promoted the support of State Republican forms of government which is best for protecting the rights of minorities (particularly the minority of one. This best protect the struggle between not only small and large States but between of different cultural and economic backgrounds.
