I am taking 17 hours now, and I am a little bored. I feel like I should be working harder. But I am taking classes during the summer, and they seem like they would be more intense/time consuming since the semester is shorter. So, how many hours do you think I should take? I want to relax a little during the summer, but at the same time I need to balance that with my free time (for me, boredom and/or lack of a challenge leads to depression, which leads to very bad things). Does anybody have any suggestions?

Join some clubs, play chess, get a life! Don't overdo it on the class hours, you'll have nothing to show for it when you graduate.

Make connections, network by playing fuseball or something else you find fun. You'll need a job when you graduate, and you need to know people to get a good challenging one (or to get good customers or investors if you set up your own business).

Perhaps get a part time job... and don't worry so much. If your parents are the ones making you feel that way, tell them you're smoking pot or contracted some disease or something to get them off your back.

It all depends on what you are planning on taking, and how many credits you feel comfortable with. I have taken a range of credits for 12 a semester to 20 a semesters, there have been times that the lower credit hours were harder to keep up than the higer hours, just depending on what classes you are taking. Summer classes are definetly more intense since it is a shorter time period to do as much as they do during the summer. and Science classes are more so than other classes at times. All in all the final decision is up to you.
