My husband and I have been TTC, so far with no success, its come to my attention that I think I have a short luteal phase/luteal phase defect (which could be the reason why im not getting pregnant) because my luteal phase is only about 8 or 9 days and a fertilized egg needs anywhere from 10-16 ive heard....I just bought vitamin B6, as I have heard it helps to lengthen your luteal phase by a few days. Im just wondering if anyone here has had a short luteal phase and tried taking B6, and if you had any success in it lengthening your luteal phase, resulting in a successful pregnancy?? If so, how long did it take you to get pregnant once you started it?? Did you take one everyday?? Just looking for anyone else in my shoes...Thanks!!
P.S. Im trying B6 before any progesterone creams or any of the BIG meds like clomid and stuff because id rather not have to take them if I dont have to. Of course I will if thats what it takes but I just want to try this first and see if its successful!

8-9 days is a short luteal phase, before I saw my doctor, my luteal phase was also 8-9 days.

Be careful with vitamin B6, it can cause nerve damage if you take too much of it. I also have a luteal phase defect so I went to the doctor. Most of the time, you can't see a doctor until you've been trying for a year unless you know you have a problem. So, I was able to go in for infertility treatment at 7 months. Realize that luteal phase defect is a loose term and there is not a "one size fits all treatment." So, my advice to you is to see a doctor before you try the B6, especially since it can be dangerous and your doctor may have something that will work better for you. I know it's tough when some people are able to conceive immediately, but, make sure you relax and do things right so you don't cause any larger problems down the line. My doctor decided to put me on femara which is a very non-invasive drug and does not have the side-effects like clomid. So far, it's only been a month and I'm not preg yet but I did have a longer luteal phase. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I, too, had a short luteal phase (9-10 days), but conceived last month. I wasn't taking B6 then, but I did drink a cup of red raspberry leaf tea every day, and conceived the same month I started drinking it! I've also heard chaste tree berries (vitex) can lengthen a short luteal phase; do some reading and talk to your doc first. PS I'm taking B6 now for morning sickness and it works wonders (100 mg daily).

Good luck.
