The problem isn't with Limewire as much as it is with eDonkey 2000, which is one of the backbones of the illegal music sharing network. It can take as long as 4 days to log on a server and get the song you want downloaded.

Since the illegal music sharing network is run by amateurs they don't have the number of servers and the huge broadband capacity to handle the demand.

If you open Shareaze and some other file sharing programs then you can go to the Tools menu and open the Options Dialogue box. There you can set the backbone networks that you want to use to run your search one. eDonkey is one of the largest and most popular so it is the slowest.

Remember Limewire is no longer run by a small group of people in an obscure corner of the Internet it has gone worldwide and is considered a major problem by the music industry. I have seen ways that someone (probably the music industry) has tried to slow down this illegal file swapping by releasing bad song files that either are not complete, or act like a virus in that they don't have any useable content and are almost impossible to erase from your hard drive.

It isnt slow it's just that you probably got the free version and the free version enables you to download but really slowly. It also depends on what you're downloading too. If you're downloading a movie or video it's going to take twice as long as opposed to downloading a music file which will take tops an hour. Most music files take an average 4mintues to download so take this into consideration and happy downloading! :)
