Just curious if there is a difference, and if so, what is it?

A reporter is someone who is "on the scene" and reporting a news item... a journalist is someone who follows a particular story and researches it to write an indepth account. ie: a reporter tells you about the traffic or a house fire in your area...a journalist goes to an area that has been hit by tragedy and tells you all the stories involved or to a war area and accounts the details there.

Journalist is the more general term. All reporters are journalists, but not all journalists are reporters. Some of us are editors.

The only difference is that journalists tend to be more arrogant and perhaps make more money.

That was just a joke; there is no difference.
