It's a romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with a taxi cab driver, but can't find him after that ride. Eventually sad stuff happens and she has to move out of NYC. Her car breaks down on her way to the airport, and she hails a cab and geuss who it is.

Even if it doesn't have anything to do with my description, but I like it, I would use it.

And if anybody has any idea of a way, other than a cardboard cutout, that I could hypothetically get a taxi on stage, or give the audience the idea of being in a taxi, I would be very greatful.

"The Meter's Running"
"Hail and Fare Well"

to suggest a cab on stage
four chairs
two rows of two. (front seat/back seat)
Have the driver hold a steering wheel in his hands.
that's really all you need.

As for a cab on stage can you find one of those preschool car beds and borrow it or buy it from a thrift shop?? I know you don't like the idea of cardboard cut outs but how about a full cardboard box? Like the size of a refrigerator?
borrow one of those preschool ride around vehicles, like the mini-hummer or the barbie one with the phone, disguise it as a cab and put it way in the background like a car is coming into the scene maybe?
As for the name, do you want to be obvious? Spring scene on 34th street? Or call it after your character perhaps; example "Lucy's Hope", "Mary's Dream", or use the love angle, "Heart's on Idle", "All it takes is a minute" (referencing the popular phrase "newyork minute"), "IF ONLY...",
well, you could use the car angle, "cross-town traffic" or "cross-town let-down" (tho that might make the audience think they are going to be bored and sad by the end.). You know how hard it is to get a cab? You could call it "what does a girl have to do..." which might make audiences come to see what the girl does do and why she's doing what she does, even tho she's only running round town after a cute cabbie!

Here's to your production! Break A Leg! :)

"Lost Afares"

-It's a pun, because there are taxi cab fares, and some relationships are affairs.

You could, instead of using a cardboard taxi, maybe have the driver wear one of those taxi driver hats and hold a steering wheel or like prop.

Most students, I think, have never been in a taxi, why not make a model of a taxi meter? Put in on a chair so they can see it and have a mileage counter and fare meter. Good Luck

You should call it "Mr. Taco Is So Cool I Named My One-Act Play After Him."
