Absolutely. The US officially entered the war against Japan after Japan made the first move by bombing Pearl Harbor. We were attacked on our own soil.
War wasn't declared on Germany until after Germany declared on us (which they did after our declaration on Japan, because they were allied with Japan)

There can be a very good argument made that we were way over-do for entering the way. We had been playing at it, been supporting Britain for years (Lend Lease Agreements and all), we'd even done a few little political power plays on our own (against Japan). But still, the USA wanted to remain either neutral or in a state of isolationism.
Meanwhile, China had been in the War since 1931. Europe had been in the War since 1935-1936. How many people suffered and died while we were trying to figure it out? How many Jews died, and yes we knew they were being slaughtered, before the USA decided to step in and stop it? How many horrendous things did German and Japan do while we sat picking our noses?
Oh yes, not only were we justified, we had a moral imperative to join WW II. But, it was the Japanese, against the advice of their ally Germany and Hitler, who finally pushed us it. The War didn't really begin to end, it wasn't a vague hope to end, until the USA got involved. If we had not, London would be singing "Deutchland, Deutchland Uber Alas" even today, while they downed their pints of beer and ate bangers ... oh, they do that anyway.

Are you serious?
I think the United States was justified, considering thousands of young men were killed or wounded from a cowardly sneak attack. Considering the atrocities occurring in Europe we actually should have jumped in BEFORE Japan attacked us.
Why would you even ask this? Do you have think that the U.S. was NOT justified? If so, I'd like to hear it.

nicely think of of it this manner if usa did not enter WW2 what might usa be like? nicely WW2 particularly did help us jumpstart our economic device after the great melancholy because of the fact we had to construct factories to make the climate for the troops, it led to the form of the nuclear weapon, usa growing to be a worldwide superpower, it prevented the Nazis and Japanoese from triumphing the conflict saving many people from harsh regimes, the toddler growth, and a lot greater. It replaced into considerable for usa to pass into the conflict because of the fact the people had to stand up against people who attacked us in Pearl Harbor and the different allied powers needed yet another best pal that had the factors in the two uncooked factors and people to assist them combat in the two theaters of the conflict. devoid of American intervention the conflict in the pacific could have been lost very certainly because of the fact the only allied powers in the section in any great variety could have been the united kingdom, which centred maximum of it efforts in Europe and those in the pacific have been maximum involved in protecting the territories not attacking, Australia, which sorry Australians lacked the army skill to even take care of its very own borders, and New Zealand, which sorry New Zealanders had an identical undertaking because of the fact the Australians. In Europe the united kingdom can even have been compelled to end struggling with against the Germans in concern of being taken over because of the fact their greatest best pal previously US intervention replaced into France who did not gain this warm in WW2 after being taken over by way of Nazi Germany. So particularly, to not sound smug approximately my domicile united states of america, might have had to connect the conflict because of the fact the state of the worldwide might have depended upon. Plus the U. S. could have probably lost a number of their greatest procuring and merchandising companions on the time, France and Britain.

I'm not sure what more justification you could ask for beyond the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and Germany declaring war on the US days later.
