Tell them dance has been around since prehistoric times. It began with one of the first men got really excited about something. Some say he was trying to show how mad he was at not getting in to see the Rolling Stones, or he stepped on a hot coal and burned his foot and everyone thought that was a really cool move. One story has it that one guy's foot fell asleep during a speech by Jimmy Carter and he got up to get his foot to wake up. I heard one old timer tell me Wilma asked Fred to kill a prehistoric bug and he forgot he didn't have shoes on. Another story went that some of the kids at one of the early Elvis concerts got up to imitate his moves on stage(Elvis secretly had vertical epilepsy which is very rare and only afflicts some people who try to sing standing up. The give away was the lopsided smile). Finally, it was brought about by an early native American when he had traveled to Australia in his canoe and was telling about kangaroos(some say he was mad because while he was gone he lost naming rights to some Italian guy named Christoper Columbus)and wanted to name it after his father and call this Tonto-land. Tonto, by the way, in early native American, means Big Daddy. Columbus thought it was cool moves and took it over to England where he got together with Mozart and invented the Minuet. If this is not long enough you can ad-lib a little, or demonstrate each example. If it is too long, don't ad-lib.

talk about how each country has it's own special dances and songs, and the beauty of each one . do a little research on belly dancing, traditional indian dancing, native american dancing, traditional american folk dance, square dancing, etc. then, put it all in a long summary and present!
