It is amazing how far we have come especially in the past 200 years. Yet it is very unfortunate that our choices in life are so poor. Our God given gift of choice allows us the opportunity to do better and be better yet rarely do we take advantage of it. Why do we choose the opposite of what is good for us then complain about it, or blame others as an excuse?

Must it take horrible disasters for us to come together and unite to help one another? Why can't we come together everyday and unite for the better good of humankind?
The simple yet complex answer is CHOICE and the unseen evil that influences humankind each day. Our heart and eyes do not lie to us, but our MIND is like the internet super highway without a firewall, or any real form of protection. Our minds will wonder and sometimes try to convince us that doing the opposite of good and being negative is ok and sometimes sadly we agree. Remember to never give up! Always do your best no matter how hard the road or life can be!

Welcome aboard! The better it gets, the better it gets. The worse it gets, the worse it gets. There are no limits. Ask Bill Gates.
We are on the doorstep of a great revolution because people are now finding out about this great power of choice. Why are you still focusing on the negative? Just a beginner?

There is only one thing that can be held fully responsible for the state of the world today. Organized religion. Now before the religious amongst you give me a thumbs-down, consider this...almost all wars since the beginning of mankind have been influenced directly or indirectly by religion. That's just fact. Until we can learn tolerance for each other's beliefs, there will bo no spiritual advancement. We may well advance our technology to fantastic levels, but we'll still destroy ourselves at some point because of this intolerance. It's always been about faith, and each faith's inability to consider another point of view. Even the asker of the question says "our God given gift of choice"....and what would the reaction be if the phrase was instead "our Mohammed given gift of choice"? For most people, their instinctive response to the question would be negative, and you know it. Until we as a people learn true tolerance through UNDERSTANDING, we will always be little more than animals. When was the last time any of you learned more about the Jewish faith, or Hindus, or Muslims, just to be informed? You DO have the choice. Make it a good one.

Unfortunately life is not as simple as that. For us to come together we must first overcome all differences and that is not very easy even under the best of circumstances. I think though that you are being a bit pessimistic. The average person is a good person and everyone makes bad choices once in a while because as humans we are imperfect beings. Have faith in humanity. It will happen. It won't happen in our lifetime, but someday we will be a stable society. We just need a way to co-exist that everyone can agree on. It may take some time though.

Because God did give us free will, even if we use it poorly. People will never agree on everything. When someThing happens that you think will unite people you find that people always think differently. When September 11th happened did anyone really think that anyone in this country would blame anyone but the monsters who did it? But alas there is Bill Maher saying they were brave and others saying George Bush did it.
Sometimes people just take the oppisite stance just to be different, even if it's the wrong one.

Several years ago I completely changed my entire views on things.

But I think that it is rude for someone to assume that people are mean because there is nothing better for them to do. We do have a choice to be better people, but why would someone who has lead a life of sadness and misfortune just randomly decide they want to change.

We do have a choice but that is assuming that someone can see themselves from a third person point of view and say that what they are doing is wrong.

Unfortunately that is hard to do. It is hard to make that choice.

People do it... I did it. But your opinion of something is different than others. And it is your choice ot have that opinion.

I have read all the responses and rated them all good. We are unfortunately self-destructive by nature and must take a look at ourselves in order to make a difference. It is that simple, but "we" make it so complex. It is easy to be overcome by negativity which leads to self-centeredness, which snow-balls into a lot of bad characteristics that are projected on to others.

Because we are human, alas, so very often we fail in finding true meaning beyond that which is ourselves. Mankind is shackled by forces within themselves that include ego-centrism, greed, selfishness and of course procrastination. We do what we want to do at the moment we want to do it. We ever so often fail to see the big picture because we are lost in trying to find the picture that is right in front of us, not realizing that that which is right in front of us in only like a single piece in a huge mosaic.

Why don't we do better? Because we choose not to. As the saying goes "the only thing we learn from history is that we never learn from history". Yes, this is us.

Definately agree wtih the remark above me. additionally, you ought to submit to in techniques that society feeds off the strikes and reactions of those around them so if others are behaving in this manner and making crappy options, it particularly is lots much less complicated to make the incorrect options and bypass in with the "cool crowd" than it particularly is to take a seat and do the sensible factor of status out and making a decision that's not in basic terms appropriate for them in my view, yet honest and easily to others.

Humans as a whole are generally stupid that is why. We only fool ourselves into thinking we are great because we don't wanna feel so bad about being so stupid.
