The way I look at it is this:

A women gets pregnant, and from that point on she is carrying another's life inside of her. It's not a life that she owns, as no person's life is "owned", just a life that she mothers. So, what right does any one person have over a life of another that allows them to take it from them? That's like saying it's okay for some one to walk up to you with a gun and shoot you point blank, or stab you to death, because they don't think you should be here, think you have a life you deserve, or that they can't support you.

The fact of the matter is, there are other options besides abortion, but abortion is just quicker option because a baby doesn't have to be carried around for 9 months. The only person who should even be allowed to consider abortion is a true rape victim because the conception of the child had nothing to do with their consent. However, I still think the same values apply to them as any other person. If you take a life, you take a life. In no way whatsoever is any person ever going to be justified.

Whose god are we talking about here? Allah? Yahweh? Zeus? The old testament xtian god, or the new testament? Catholic or protestant? The god of the Unitarians or the god of the fundamentalists? You see, most people claim to believe in only one god, and that their god is the only one, but when you look closely at their god, it turns out that gods are as abundant--and unique--as snowflakes. No two people believe in exactly the same god, even if they give it the same label.

And don't even get me started on "truth." Most religious believers don't know the first thing about truth. They just take their own beliefs and call that truth, because that's what they want truth to be. They ignore logic, dismiss evidence and call science "just another belief system," as if doing so will bring science down to the level of their own beliefs.

If you're going to make a judgment about abortion, pro or con, leave "god" out of it, because no one can honestly claim to speak for any god but their own personal god. How can any xtian really claim to know the will and mind of god without having read the Koran, Torah, and every other holy book out there? Even just limiting yourself to the bible, whose _interpretation_ is the correct one?

Take billions of people who believe in a god, and who also believe that only their god is the True god. Talk about your recipe for disaster; no wonder religion and belief have caused so much suffering and conflict throughout human history!

How can you live in a state that does not respect free-will; its power is fear and is unable or unwilling to discern a living body and a living body endowed self conscious life. When safety is more important than freedom, the state and its private interests may claim full authority over your existence, life and death and why.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative. When the Will is subsumed in the Judgment, the self is evil.

"Nature engenders nature, and nature only, in its reproduction and in its life. The rose brings forth more roses, never anything ‘unnatural’ or ‘unrose-like’. The human being creates humanity, but with this difference: what is human can at the same time be either ‘human’ or ‘inhuman’. The results of human action range from creations which fill our hearts and souls with lasting strength and delight, to crimes whose shame no atonement can wipe off the face of the earth."

I think the answer to the question lies in the mother (and the father, of course). There are some situations where it might be a better not to bring an innocent child into it. There are issues in women's health that might make a mother re-think having her child. I personally do not think that i would be able to have one, but i think its left up to god and the woman.

The debate arises as to determine when the baby is its own person. Is it in the womb? Is it once its born?

Should women who's baby dies in childbirth be convicted of unintential manslaughter? Should babies who kill there mother be convicted of the same?

It an interesting question. I know lots of people who have had them, i know it was the right choice for them.

This is the truth.

We should do what brings us happiness. I am religious, but I feel very strongly that we shouldn't force our religious beliefs upon others. We shouldn't make laws restricting women from having abortions. I am rarely in favor of abortion, but there are some situations where I feel it a the right thing to do. You should make laws based on the benefit to humanity, not to enforce a religious belief.

John 8:44 is yet another opinion, and you don't even know whose opinion it was.

If God was ok with abortion, he would have given women the power to do it themselves. It was the woman's choice to have sex and get knocked up in the first place anyway. USE A CONDOM

So, God is letting you in on private conversations regarding how he will judge everything? Cool! Let us know how it all turns out!

The rest of us have to make the best judgements and guesses we can with the bits of info, dogma, manipulative crap and our own connections to whatever is beyond us. Please try to stop forcing your ideas on those of us who believe you don't know how to think, and who are struggling to be good people despite how you judge us. I know you probably mean well, but it is destructive and doesn't change anyone's mind.

Truth is wholly subjective. Your biblical reference allows for only one view, one opinion. Not your religion, nor any of the HUNDREDS of other religions, are pure truth. They are opinions. And so is one's view on abortion. Please don't throw your opinions into others' faces. My truth is difefrent from yours, and that does not necessarily make it a bad one.
