I was in a relationship for over 6 years. The hold time I said that I know it was love. When it finally came to an end I realized that it was nothing more than lust.Maybe we tell ourselves that we are in love so that we don't see ourselves for what we really are,"sex addicted junkies".

Having never been in a serious relationship, I couldn't say - because I refuse to be in a relationship where I'm used for a sex object or some kind of decoration, and the majority of men seem to want that. Women, though . . . the majority of women are straight. So I'm kind of screwed.

I'd say lust and love are not necessarily mutually exclusive, though.

I believe most relationships are fueled by lust. When me and my husband first got together, it was sex,sex,sex,.....only after I got pregnant did we actually start to form a real relationship and eventually fell in love. I know that sounds so backwards, but I believe lust drives the world. We've been married 11 yrs. I believe it actually took us a couple of yrs. to actually love one another

When we are young, it is driven by hormones. As we get older and reflect on our relationships we develop a concept of love.
