My fiancee ... is from the Philippines and is at present in the Philippines and I am in England UK. She bought a SIM card in the Philippines for her cellphone with a number 091xxxxxx - yes, I could receive her texts but she could NOT receive mine. Yes, we could TALK to each other though. To solve the texts problem I suggested she change the SIM to another company so she now has a SIM car number 092xxxxxx but now the problem has reversed itself... She can receive my texts but I cannot receive hers. But we can still talk with each other. WHAT CAN BE THE PROBLEM ? Please help. What would you suggest ? Is it merely a setting on the cellphone itself ? Or is it the SIM card ? Please advise. Thanks you. I miiss her a lot but we cannot afford SPEAKING with each other eeryday We need to rely on texting. Thanks again.

It's possible that the problem is in the cellphone especially if it is only dual band (like Nokia 3310 w/c is still popular in the Philippines). If she is on prepaid, it's also possible that the problem is her "load".

I would suggest she ask her service provider what the requirements for overseas texting are. I think Globe and Smart have different requirements like how much your load is supposed to be and if dual band cellphones can be used or triple band and higher must be used...
